To heal communities affected by violence, the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI) fosters hospital and community collaborations to advance equitable, trauma-informed care and violence intervention and prevention programs.

The HAVI is part of a growing movement working to advance a new social paradigm that focuses on the health and healing of communities of color. By investing in public health approaches to address persistent systemic and community violence, the HAVI supports communities’ ability to heal and thrive.
The HAVI fosters a national network of hospital-based violence intervention programs that work to stop the revolving door of violent injury in our communities by bringing culturally-appropriate violence prevention services to the hospital bedside to address the social determinants of health for victims of community violence who are at elevated risk for future violent incidents. Additionally, the HAVI brings these programs together to share knowledge, develop best practices, collaborate on research, and advance policy change.
We believe violence is preventable and are committed to providing resources to our most vulnerable victims through community-hospital partnerships that offer the highest quality trauma-informed care to patients in emergency rooms and trauma centers throughout the country.
